40 NEW THINGS – DAYS 37-40

“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his/her happiness on major events like a great job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time.
If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.”
Andy Rooney

I am sure by now most of you know what I am banging on about, if not you can read about the start of this journey here. So this is the last of the forty days, the last few days have been super emotional. I still have a couple more blog posts on the whole experience so keep your eyes peeled for the next couple of days! And believe me, you will not believe what the hell happened on day 41! But more about that on Monday, for now, I hope you enjoy the last few days……..

Day 37

Ok so this is a weird one and obviously, there has been a time in my life where I didn’t wear false nails but after 6 years I finally had my nails removed. So I have been wearing super long false nails for the last six years and they became part of my identity when anyone described me it was Emma with the nails. And a bit like when you hate changing your hair because thats who you are, my nails became like that. It was so bad that I actually allowed myself to stop doing some stuff I love like kickboxing because I was more interested in having pretty nails which believe me I know is absolutely ridiculous. So in the above picture is just my own nails with just nail polish on, and guess what my world hasn’t stopped although it does still feel a little odd I am certainly more than a set of nails. And who knows maybe I will change my hair next!

DAY 38

Day 38 I had a full life clear out, I deleted all dating apps from my phone, deleted all guys numbers, finally blocked Alex and deleted the numbers and blocked anyone who I felt was toxic in my life. This challenge if nothing more has made me realise how loved I truly am and how strong a person I actually am! So it is time to move away from anyone who is not on my team, its time to spend some real time single and it is time that I put myself first in every area. It is a little scary but it is definitely needed and I am excited to rediscover who I am as a woman without the wrong people in my life. So here is to the future and the unknkown.

Day 39

So guys remember day 22 when I gave a barman my phone number well day 39 was our first date, possibly are only date too! He took me on a picnic to watch the sunset, possibly the sweetest date I have ever been on and certainly the first picnic I have been on since I was a small child. There were plenty of firsts on this date some of which I am not talking about, but we also had our first kiss. Honestly, I have no idea if I will ever see him again, I am bloody terrible at this dating thing. If I don’t ever see him again I still had an absolutely lovely evening that I won’t forget. Also, I have now decided to eat all my meals outside on a picnic blanket for the rest of my summer. This has to be the first date I have been on in years where I have not met the guy on a dating app which was rather refreshing and I think will be the way forward for me from now on, all apps have now been deleted.

Day 40

I couldn’t think of a better way of ending my 40 days than meeting all the lovely I have met along the way in Manchester for the evening. So I needed up meeting one of the beautiful BFF for dinner before she had to get a train but as I left the other women all text me, I swear the stars must have aligned and came into town for a drink. Literally, some of my favourite people were all there on the last day. Day 40 was one of those days where I felt so much love and respect, I pretty much cried all the way home because I am a big girl! It was the perfect ending to a perfect 40 days.

Keep an eye out on Monday for the last of my 40 new things in 40 days blog post where I will share everything I have learnt along the way and how it has really changed my life. Also to find out what happened on day 41, bring tissues.
