Taking on the World, One Hike at a Time
Hey there beautiful, yes, you! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I am Emma and this little blog is all about nature and the pursuit of adventures. (who actually likes writing these about me sections, this feels as awkward as I am in real life). In a nutshell, I love adventures, hiking, and all things outdoors. Pre-Covid I spent every free second traveling, hiking, and chasing the next adventure. 2020 was challenging for me I lost my dad, job, and boyfriend (boyfriend came back). I was furloughed for 5 months, moved towns, and missed the outdoors terribly. (2020 was awful, however, I did have some amazing times and created some great memories. Roll on 2021 I now live with my boyfriend have taken up gardening in a massive way (currently growing every fruit and vegetable known to man). Together we have 4 chickens, 2 cats, and 20 fish, as you can imagine there is now a fine balance between spending every second away and being at home to make sure everyone/thing survives. It is safe to say this blog is going to change direction daily luckily that works for me and I hope you enjoy it.
I started this blog as a way to spread some of my happiness and the sheer joy of learning to love yourself. I wanted my blog to be honest and full of the highs and lows of life, I want to be able to share everything including the struggles because without them my life wouldn’t be as happy as it is. I’m not going to lie writing a blog when you are on the wrong side of 30 is pretty scary, especially with so many young talented bloggers out there. But I thought that maybe just one person reading it might need a little extra love.
I’m such a firm believer in finding happiness in everyday life, in a world where we are always waiting for something, the weekend, summer, a holiday, job promotion, new car or some miracle that will apparently make all our problems disappear. We should stop and look for smaller joys, those little moments in everyday life that make us stop, smile and even giggle. Now I’m not saying the big things don’t matter but they are few and far between, but imagine if you could get that happy warm feeling everyday. I do everyday, because I’m all about celebrating the small things in life, even if it’s just dancing around my kitchen when my favourite song comes on the radio or a nice cup of tea whilst reading. So next time you get some good news, have a little luck or just realise how incredibly lucky you are to have your life, do a little dance, shake yo booty, giggle or just take a couple of minutes to reflect and before you know it, you won’t have to look for these moments anymore.
Here are some random happy little facts about me!
I love 1950s films, I prefer Chinese to Indian, my biggest fear is drowning in jelly, Italy is my favorite place to visit in the summer, Prague is my favorite city but only in the winter, cinnamon is the devil’s spice and melon is his favorite fruit! I don’t cry at funerals but I do cry at x-factor. I never get naked, beach holidays bore me. I didn’t go in the ocean til I was 23 because I was scared of jellyfish, the first time I went in the ocean a jellyfish stung me around both legs from bum to ankles. When I was a kid I wanted to be a doctor, my favorite memories as a kid are my dad taking me Rhyl every Friday after school for the funfair and doughnuts. I don’t actually know how tall I am but I wish I was taller and I tell people I’m allergic to candy floss because it freaks me out.
Now I know you are curious, So curl up with a big hot chocolate, in your favourite Pyjamas and get comfy while you take a little peek into my happy little world.
Taking on the World, One Hike at a Time
Hey there beautiful, yes, you! welcome to my little corner of the internet. I would be Emma and this little blog is all about finding happiness in everyday life. Now in the last 3 years I’ve seperated, got divorced, lost 70 lbs, gained 20lbs, lost 15lbs, gained another 22lbs, moved towns, changed jobs six times, lost family, changed friends, fell in love, got engaged and moved again, called off engagement, moved again and started my life again, again! Then met someone new and started a relationship while discovering myself. And through all of this I’ve never lost my smile or that warm fuzzy feeling in my heart.
I started this blog as a way to spread some of my happiness and the sheer joy of learning to love yourself. Emma's Adventure Bucket List
“If adventure has a final and all-embracing motive, it is surely this: we go out because it is our nature to go out, to climb mountains, and to paddle rivers, to fly to the planets and plunge into the depths of the oceans… When man ceases to do these things, he is no longer man.” – Wilfrid Noyce
