Kale is such a ball of positive light, we have followed each other from maybe the start of my Instagram life! Honestly she is strong, beautiful and kind, everything you want in a friend. You can find Kale on Instagram @kaleslittleworld

1. Can you tell us something about yourself?

Hello, my name is Kale, I am 30 years old and love to seek adventures in life, exploring new places and eager to learn about different ways of life.

2. What is the first memory of an adventure you had? And why does it stand out?

My earliest memory of an adventure was going to Blackpool with my mum and one of my sisters to meet up with my Auntie who lived in Scotland. We met her by the tower, and I remember exploring the beach for hours collecting pebbles and seashells. These memories stick with me and I still love going to Blackpool to see the illuminations, have a dabble at the 2p machines in Coral Island and no matter which beach I go to I always end up collecting seashells and pebbles.

3. What are three things on your bucket list?

  • Visit New York
  • Run the London Marathon
  • Have afternoon tea at the Ritz in London

4. Are there any women that inspire your adventures or that you look to for inspiration?

I am inspired by the women in my family and friends who encourage me to seek adventure, live my life to the fullest and believe in my – self.

5. What piece of advice would you give your younger self?

To live life to the fullest, say yes to new adventures and not to worry about how things go wrong.  Grab every opportunity you can to have fun, be happy and focus on your goals.

6. What is the hardest adventure/hike you have done and why?

The hardest adventure for me was attempting to climb Snowdon especially as I was three quarters of the way up and I began to panic as I am afraid of heights so came back down. This hasn’t put me off though, my resilience is stronger so I will attempt it again soon.

7. Is there a sport/adventure pursuit you would like to try? If yes what’s stopping you?

There is many adventures I would like to do fear has always got in the way however I am slowly getting past the worrying stage and I am now determined to do more.

8. Has the outdoors impacted your mental health?

The outdoors is amazing for my mentality, the fresh air, taking in the beauty of the world and watching nature flourish brings out the positivity in me.

9. What does a typical adventure day look like for you?

A typical adventure day is not too hot but not too cold, a backpack and walking boots. Getting outside to explore with my camera in my hands to take pictures creating memories.

10. What is the one song you would pick to sum up your time outdoors?

There are a variety of songs which remind me of outdoor adventures such as Louis Armstrong what a wonderful world or john Denver Country roads, take me home.

11. What are your top three favourite outdoor brands?

  • Regatta
  • Hi – Gear
  • Karrimor

12. Are you happy with their selection of women’s clothing?

To be honest the clothing range of any outdoor brand is poor for women not a lot of choice and plus being 4 ft 9 I find it hard for clothes to fit me in the adult range … haha.

13. How did you find lockdown? Did you discover new ways to have adventures?

Lockdown at first was a challenge however I found new walking routes in my local area which I now love to explore.

14. Will your adventures changes after Covid-19?

Covid has changed my whole outlook on life and just turning 30 too. I want to say yes to more adventures and not let fear get in the way of trying new things.

15. Why did you want to become a nurse?

I want to become a nurse to give something back to our amazing NHS and help people in their time of need.

16. What has it been like being a student nurse?

I love being a student nurse, learning anatomy and physiology, discovering how illnesses occur alongside the different types of medication to treat certain conditions. Currently we are home studying which is different but manageable. I have got into a routine of studying each day followed by an outdoor adventure to clear my mind ready for the next day.

17. What advice would you give someone wanting to become a nurse?

To enjoy every moment of your studying, be organised and ask for the support you need to complete your assignments. Nursing can be challenging but it is also one of the most rewarding jobs.

18. Once it’s safe, where is the first place you want to visit for a holiday?

The first place I want to go to when it is safe is down south I have never been before and would love to explore the costal walks.
