When Chrissy says “fancy a hike in the Peak District?” you go hell yes!! Its never a boring day when we go out to play, wine, dancing and giggling is always on the cards. Unfortunately, so is bad weather, me and Chrissy are yet to do a hike in the sunshine. Hike in a storm ✔️ Hike in territorial rain ✔️Hike in gale force wind ✔️ Hike in the sunshine ❌ Preying for sunshine I wore less layers then usual the air was warm and all seemed very promising for a hike in the sunshine.

The brief 10 minutes where I was able to walk without my coat on and the only time of the day where my smile wasn’t being held up by the wind. The promise of a nice weather day quickly started to fade the higher we got!

When it comes to hills/mountains I have zero sense of direction in regards to other hills/mountains around me. Chrissy can point out all the hills around us in the correct direction, I have never done Kinder Downfall before although I have done Kinder Scout and yet still couldn’t figure out the direction Kinder Scout was in! Maybe this should be one of my goals of 2020 get better at directions and navigation!

About half way up the coat came out and the rain began! But at least I have my summer jacket on I’ve only just stopped using my winter jacket!! Let’s all cross our fingers for an actual nice couple of summer weeks. I promise Chrissy is having more fun than this picture let’s on.

Inner Voice: Act cool Emma, act cool, don’t put your arms out! Me: Arms out!

With the weather getting worse we decided to stop for our bottle of wine sooner rather than later! I mean everyone has a bottle of wine on a hike right? And because we are classy women we had Haribo and crisps too, we must have been doing something right because everyone that passed us, stopped to say hello! We must have been sat there for 90 minutes catching up on life, you would think we never see each other! We giggled so much that we didn’t notice that we were getting soaking.

“You find out the strength of a wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down”  C. S. Lewis

I would love to do this walk on a nice day but I am not sure this side of the Peak District gets that many nice days!

Wind got me like……

I have hated my stomach for as long as I can remember even as a child its the part of me that causes so many tears and self-hate. For me, it’s super important that I learn to love my stomach something I know won’t happen overnight but I am trying my hardest to do one thing every week that builds my confidence with it and gets me one step closer to liking it again. Having my picture taken without my top on is a big deal, I never do this, I have never even worn a bikini the idea scares the shit out of me.

“There are many winds full of anger, and lust and greed. They move the rubbish around, but the solid mountain of our true nature stays where it’s always been.”  Rumi

Wearing a woolly hat in June!!! And these smiles are definitely wind-blown smiles!! I look like a crazy person!

Kinder Downfall is the tallest waterfall in the Peak District, with a 30-metre (98 ft) fall. The waterfall was formerly known as Kinder Scout, and it is from this that the plateau derives its name. Although usually little more than a trickle in summer, in spate conditions it is impressive. In certain wind conditions (notably when there is a strong west wind), the water is blown back on itself, and the resulting cloud of spray can be seen from several miles away

These may be some of the best pictures I have gotten of myself in the Peak District but they came at a very wet price! I was absolutely soaking, not wearing enough layers and walking into the wind.

Extremely wind blown I mean I don’t mind the wind but having it blow in your face non stop for four hours will test anyone! It’s safe to say I was happy about coming down off the top and getting the feeling back in my face.
