I have just got back from pretty much the last three weeks working in Hebden Bridge, I am happy, exhausted and a little bit in love with Yorkshire. Despite my love for being outside I hardly ever visit Yorkshire. Something I plan on changing very soon because it’s just so pretty! So back to Hebden Bridge, I have been staying there Monday to Friday for three weeks now just coming home for the weekend.  Which would have been super amazing if it was during the summer when it was light for longer but I definitely tried to make the most of the time I had. Poet Laureate Ted Hughes was born in Mytholmroyd (the next town over) and lived in Heptonstall, and his wife Sylvia Plath is buried in the churchyard in Heptonstall. So I will be returning to visit her grave, if you have been following me for a while you will know how much I love a good churchyard.

Before the clocks changed I had about 30 minutes an evening of the last bit of daylight, which changed to the morning once the clocks went back. So I would rush back from where I was working, park up and go for a little walk around the cute, quirky little town.

Yorkshire’s quirkiest town is also one of its most charming. Hebden Bridge boasts both a river and a canal, with many spots to sit or walk and admire the water. In the town itself, you will find plenty of artisan shops, galleries, cafés and quaint pubs, but the real beauty is to be found in the woods, moors and fields surrounding the town.. Hebden Bridge seems to be perfectly positioned in the middle of Leeds and Manchester. It takes just over half an hour to reach Manchester by train and under an hour into Leeds.

I must have looked so odd dashing from place to place to try and get as many pictures and see as many buildings as possible before the sun went down. Before I got this job I used to think that being able to travel a lot with work would be so glamorous and what I have discovered is that it is the total opposite, it is just you trying to convince yourself you are not exhausted. Although there is no way I would change it at all, I love my job and travelling is just one of the aspects to it. With all these pretty views what’s not to love, I mean really?!

By the end of my first day, I was already planning on how many more times I could visit next year. I can’t believe I am already planning next year! Where the hell has this year gone. The whole area is surrounded by beautiful walks in the Yorkshire countryside, certainly a place to visit during light nights and better weather. I have some more exciting challenges coming up next year, this year has been totally different then I expected, despite the setback in my love life the year has been utterly amazing and I plan on next year being even better.

I walked until I found a cute little bar, how strange is this. So the bar I spoke about yesterday in my London post has three locations including one in Hebden Bridge, from London to Yorkshire. A lot smaller the NightJar in Hebden is a tiny bar with a beautiful atmosphere and delicious wine.

Well, it would be rude not to celebrate my first day in Henden without a large glass of wine. To be honest one glass of wine gets me drunk which I always know but I feel like a grown woman when I drink it, unfortunately, I don’t act like one after half a glass.
