“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. For those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. You can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. Summer just opens the door and lets you out.”
―Deb Caletti, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart
If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!
Day 54
So day 54 was mainly spent driving, in fact, I drove nearly eight hours for a two-hour meeting, so on the way back when I realised I was near Chalke Abbey I took a little detour to stretch my legs and get some fresh air. My job involves days where I do a lot of talking and on these days, spending the evenings alone in silence is my idea of total heaven, the time alone gives me space to process the day and rest my mind. I spent an hour wandering around, chasing sheep and general laying in the grass enjoying the cool breeze.
“If you want to be happy, learn to be alone without being lonely. Learn that being alone does not mean being unhappy. The world is full of plenty of interesting and enjoyable things to do and people who can enrich your life”. Michael Josephson
Day 55
Sometimes a little school night drinking is good for the soul, well at least while you are doing it (day 56 was spent more than a little rough). While driving home from work I decided to call Sarah and suggest a little glass of after work wine, a bottle later and I am sending drunk texts. And not just any normal drunk texts I decided to send my feelings through the power of music and sent out a few youtube videos, Yeah I know I don’t know what is wrong with me either. At the time it was the funniest thing I had ever done, which reminds me why I never drink wine!
So town was pretty empty which didn’t stop us from dancing in the street or giggling at everything, it’s hard to believe this woman has put up with me for 4 years now! Although I am so glad we have moved away from shots on a Saturday night and moved onto wine on school nights!
“I have learned that friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest, it’s about who came and never left your side”. Yolanda Hadid
Aren’t we pretty?!! So after a couple of wines, my camera feed looked like this! Which is how it usually looks after a drink with this beautiful lady.
