Then followed that beautiful season… Summer….
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!
Day 36
I treated myself to a whole new wardrobe! I may have gone a little crazy. The one thing this challenge has done is make me much more confident, something I wanted to show off in my appearance. Despite having a lot of tattoos I have also tried to blend into the background and not be noticed! Well apparently not any more “nobody puts baby in the corner”. Now I am ready to stand out so I treated myself to a lot of new clothes in different styles and bright colours. This is also the best I have ever felt about my body despite being a couple of lbs heavier than normal. From the moment I start the 40 New Things in 40 Days challenge my life has never been the same and I can’t imagine it ever will be again!
Day 37
The most challenging aspect to this challenge is what to do on nights I stay late at work. I love doing the 80 days of summer and writing my blog but on top of that, I work a good 60-70 hours a week over two jobs. Which as you can imagine doesn’t really leave me with much time to sleep let alone do anything else. However, not only have I become much more confident but I also have the best group of friends I have ever had and much better relationships with my family members. So as you can imagine keeping everything balanced is a real job in its self. Luckily I have a really good support system and friends that totally support the 80 days of summer and actually believe in me.
For day 37 I met my friend Anna for dinner and a good old catch up over our colas. We met in a local restaurant (it used to be mine and Alex’s place and still kills me to go in) and worked our way through the menu. I have really learnt to appreciate and value my free time. I think it is so easy to get in a comfortable routine especially if you work in a Monday to Friday job, but how much fun are you really having if you are always waiting for the weekend?! Be spontaneous, decide one afternoon next week that you are not going to go home straight after work, put your PJs on and watch the tv. I know work can be exhausting but what better way to forget about it then going out whether that’s to the beach or just to have a catch up with a friend. Plus I don’t know about you but my house is far too hot to go into until at least 11pm.
Day 38
Day 38 and another meal out, honestly I have eaten out a good 80% of the time since the start of the year. Which is utterly disgusting and something I need to stop or at least slow done a little. Honestly, have no idea how I am not the size of a house yet. What is better than a little browse through the local charity shops before friends for brunch? Exactly nothing, I am such a fan of charity fans, I did grab myself a couple of retro bargains which was the perfect way to start a Saturday.
Once I convinced myself there were no more bargains to be had I met Anna and her boyfriend in East Didsbury for brunch. I am honestly the worst blogger ever, I literally can’t remember for the life of me what the place was called. Which might be best for the place we went to despite having beautiful food the staff were beyond rude which im totally not down with. Also, an I just point out that the below image is pancakes, pork belly, egg and maple syrup and I am going to put it out there, one of the best brunches I have ever had!
