80 DAYS OF SUMMER – DAY 20

Life is now unfolding right before me, visibly and constantly, just like the flowers of summer that drops fanlike petals in an eternal soil.

Can you believe I am already a quarter of the way through my 80 days of Summer, even more unbelievable, the weather has been like summer! If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Like seriously where have you been! Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles”.Anne Frank

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature–the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter” .Rachel Carson

I had booked a Monday off work purely so I can catch up on adulting, 80 days of summer is amazing but I can’t remember the last time I had a lay-in or got to the bottom of my laundry pile, not exactly big problems but things that I wanted to catch up on! And then, of course, I wanted to visit somewhere for day 20. Which I did in the form of Fletcher Moss Botanical Gardens in Didsbury, Manchester. One of the girls in my office had been and her pictures were so pretty that I thought I would go and explore.

Although I have always been comfortable going places on my own this challenge has made me aware that although it has never bothered me to go places on my own that maybe I haven’t always been as comfortable as I have thought I have been. I feel like I am moving to a whole new level of it. My car is now filled with blankets and books ready for the next adventure rather than just going somewhere. Its a wonderful freeing of freedom.

The gardens were stunning and I got all my adulting done, winning at life! Not to mention I could totally get used to a four day work week. This challenge has truly made me realise how lucky I am, I may have just gone to a local park today but how many people didn’t, how many people are too busy just surviving or living the life they think they should lead? If you are lucky enough to actually say once a day that you saw the beauty in life then you certainly have a happy little world.

“I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least – and it is commonly more than that – sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements.” Henry David Thoreau
