Gooseberry Patch

If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Like seriously where have you been! Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!

Dat 14

So on day 14 Maddie and Chris (I work with Maddie and we have actually become more than work friends she is one of those amazing human beings that never ever ask for anything but gives all she has.) moved house and I was there to help. Which I soon regretted when I realised they were moving to a flat on the third floor. Me and Maddie have been friends for 6 months now and this is the first time I have met her boyfriend. As a thank you, they took me out for a few drinks near their new home. A few glasses of wine later I was so drunk, happy drunk but drunk drunk! And on a work night, which believe me I regretted the whole next morning! It was lovely to see the two of them together, really a very kind couple who looked after me, Chris even became my wingman during the evening. Summer nights are all about drinking wine outside with the warm air against our skin. The memories I am making with this challenge will be with me until the end.

“Luxury is anything that feels special. I mean, it can be a moment, it can be a walk on the beach, it could be a kiss from your child, or it could be a beautiful picture frame, a special fragrance. I think luxury doesn’t necessarily have to mean expensive.” Aerin Lauder

Day 15

With this super hot weather, my sister and her boyfriend are putting Alisa to bed slightly later than normal to try and help her sleep a little better which is amazing for me. Normally by the time I get home, she is winding down for her bedtime so Aunty time is not always possible. But with her later bedtime I got to go around and play whilst having dinner with my sister and her boyfriend in the garden. Life really is all about these small moments, Alisa is growing so fast and I don’t get as much time with her as I would like so these moments truly do mean everything to me. If all I did all summer was get to have play dates with these two I would be extremely happy indeed.

Day 16

Maddie and Chris had a few more bits they needed help with and I was more than happy to help as long as wine was not included! We had to be in Manchester at 11pm at night to drop some of their stuff off to be taken back to their parents in Romania, and believe me it was as dodgy as it sounds. I offered an extra pair of hands and a car. I never expected anything in return for helping them to me friendship doesn’t involve money and presents it involves love and support. However, they wanted to do something for me, and that something was dinner. I opted for a garlic based pizza which tasted as amazing as it sounds. We went to a pub down the road from their new home, I am so excited for them and this new chapter in their lives.  Plus I am loving how much they have looked after me recently I know they think I am helping them but really they are helping me, they are making me feel loved and needed.

“It’s easy to impress me. I don’t need a fancy party to be happy. Just good friends, good food, and good laughs. I’m happy. I’m satisfied. I’m content”. Maria Sharapova

Day 17

Day 17 and I still haven’t visited the same place twice which is utterly amazing, I wonder if I can do the whole 80 days without revisiting anywhere, doubtful I know but it just goes to show how many wonderful things there really is to do! Although by the end I would have visited every lake, beach, garden in a 50-mile radius. On work days I try not to venture more than an hour from work or home, mainly because I don’t want to lose too much sleep and make myself poorly before the end of the challenge.

Day 17 I ventured over to Chorlton water park, a beautiful park just 20 minutes from Manchester city centre. What has amazed me most about these little trips out is how empty everywhere is, I would expect parks and beaches to be overcrowded during this heatwave but I only ever bump into a handful of people. What are you all doing? This week hasn’t been filled with big crazy adventures but of family, friends and nature and honestly, I couldn’t be any happier. Life isn’t about having lots of crazy adventures but more about small happy moments, moments that make your heart want to burst with love. To most, my life seems very different from theirs, I am nearly 34, I am single, I live with a friend and I don’t have children but my god am I happy. Life is not a checklist, it is not built of stages that you must complete before moving forward. Life is to be lived and enjoyed for what it is and it is truly magical.
