If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Like seriously where have you been! Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!

When was the last time you spent a quiet moment just doing nothing – just sitting and looking at the sea, or watching the wind blowing the tree limbs, or waves rippling on a pond, a flickering candle or children playing in the park?

With the beautiful weather, it would an absolute crime not to spend some of my 80 days at the beach! So after work last week I headed off to the beach to met my friend Sam and enjoy the evening sunshine. It turned into the funniest night ever, I seriously can’t remember the last time I laughed so much, don’t worry there are pictures.

I got to the beach an hour before Sam, I got to finish work a little earlier than normal so found myself a sand dune to snuggle into and just snoozed a bit in the sunshine. It is my ultimate dream to one day move to a house overlooking the sea. How incredible would it be to wake up to the sounds of the sea and drink a cup of coffee with a sea view.

“ The voice of the sea speaks to the soul. The touch of the sea sensuous, enfolding the body in its soft, close embrace “ – Kate Chapin

An ice cream at the beach is the law didn’t you know! Although with the heat it had to be eaten super quick and I mean quick!

Sam is one of the women I met on Bumble BFF while I was doing my 40 new things in 40 days challenge, she is now one of the women I speak to daily! We have lots of summer adventures planned and the women and friends I now have in my life mean that getting dumped was actually a blessing in disguise. When God closes one door he opens another, for sure.

The water was surprisingly warm, in fact, it was lovely, not going to lie I did think it would be freezing but it was lukewarm. Luckily no sea monster got me so I lived to tell the tales of the lukewarm sea, I swear there is something wrong with me sometimes.

“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea”. Isak Dinesen

“I love the sea’s sounds and the way it reflects the sky. The colours that shimmer across its surface are unbelievable. This, combined with the colour of the water over white sand, surprises me every time.”  John Dyer

Guys don’t worry I have found myself a new boyfriend, isn’t he handsome!

Crosby beach near Liverpool is home to Antony Gormley’s “ Another place “ which consists of 100 cast iron life size figures spread out across the beach. And is strangely beautiful, there is something eerie about seeing a hundred human-shaped sculptures looking out to the ocean, after all, that’s what I was there for.

So some of the beach turned to mud pretty quickly in fact super quick, which left us both stuck in knee deep mud, sinking further as we laughed harder at each other. The picture above is only half as bad as it got for poor Sam and in fact, a week on she is now wearing a boot as she damaged her foot. I mean who hurts themselves at the beach? But honestly I don’t think I have laughed so much in my whole life, we must have looked like total losers but least we had smiles on our faces.

Luckily I got off slightly more lightly then Sam did although it didn’t smell great but I’m trying not to think about it and of cause, we both cleaned our cars out a couple of days before so no spare clothes. We both drove home in our underwear, thankfully we weren’t pulled over or that would be another story!

We stayed and watched the sun starting to set and chatted away, catching up on the last couple of weeks and chatting about how awful our love lives are! Mainly laughing about how awful our love lives are in fact! We were also trying to get some of the mud off Sam who was caked in it from the waist down, between me breaking out in laughter.

Is there anything prettier than watching the sun set at the beach, I love how the sand glows a beautiful orange colour and the air feels different. This is why I want to live at the beach imagine watching the sunset every evening with a glass of wine.
