80 DAYS OF SUMMER – DAYS 8 & 9

“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. For those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the […]

“Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to quiet people. For those few months, you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are, and that cut-grass smell in the air and the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool give you a courage you don’t have the rest of the year. You can be grateful and easy, with no eyes on you, and no past. Summer just opens the door and lets you out.”

―Deb Caletti, Honey, Baby, Sweetheart

If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!

Day 8

After a couple of days in Bath I decided I would pop over to Bristol for the day, but guys I am gutted I did not love Bristol, in fact, I only ended up staying a couple of hours. I was really looking forward to visiting the city, I don’t know if it was a mixture of having super high hopes, miserable weather and being utterly exhausted but I just didn’t love it. However, it is nice to say I have ticked it off my bucket list so that’s one more place in the UK I have seen but I can’t see myself hurrying back anytime soon!

Day 9

Day 9 was my first day back at work after a few days off (believe me I was devasted that I didn’t book the whole week off) and it was a killer luckily it went super fast despite the fact I spent the whole day, daydreaming about my bed. So after rushing around and being in cities for the last few days, I decided to go back to nature and take a stroll through Dunham Massey. Can I also point out the week before my break it was bright sunshine, I am off and it is cooler and overcast then first day back at work the sunshine appears again. Mother nature was definitely messing with me! Also the second point, who has ever seen a deer do this? I never thought about what they eat before, I have only ever seen them eat grass. But apparently sometimes they get hungry for tree food, I must have watched this deer do this at least ten times!

So Dunham Massy is on my way home from work and with its parkland staying open until 8pm it would be rude not to stop in now and again for a walk. After a long day at work sat in an office the very last thing I want to do is go and sit at home. I mean I could, really should go the gym but I already know that by the time I finish work, drive home and get ready, the gym is the last place in the world I want to be. However, I guess I could go for a run a Dunham Massey, In fact, I probably will in the next week because I am becoming a chunky monkey!

Wonder if anyone would notice if I just moved in? I mean all those bedrooms, would they really miss one!

Are there any green spaces, forests or National Trusts near you? It is amazing how amazing it feels to go for an hours walk after work, it gives your brain a chance to file everything away and you a chance to process and destress from the day. I have to admit this challenge is helping a lot with my work/life balance, I no longer go home thinking about work because I have done something between work and home that allows me to process and reenergize.
