“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
—F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!
Day 3:
Aimee is by far one of my closest friends and yet we have never had a takeaway and movie night! this woman has listened to me moan and complain for nearly two years but thanks to busy schedules we don’t get half as much time together as I would like. We try and meet a couple of times a month but it usually for tea, cake and catch up in a pretty tea shop. So when she suggested I come round for a takeaway and a movie I jumped at the chance! I literally rocked up in jeans, hoodie and no makeup ready for a girlie catch up, Chinese and a good old sing along to The Greatest Showman. Now my 40 days challenge made me realize how important my female friendships are to me. With this 80 days challenge, I plan on working on these friendships and making them as strong as ever. After all, you can’t expect good friends if you are a shitty friend! Honestly, not only did I have an amazing night with Aimee but it was also the first time I have relaxed in what seems like forever, Aimee is forever concerned with my health and the fact I never rest, so she finally managed to get me to slow down and just be. She really is the best friend a girl can have!
Day 4:
Is it even summer if you don’t try and eat your body weight in ice cream? Me and Aimee jumped in the car and headed to Snugburys ice cream farm, do you know how dangerous it is for me to live within 15 minutes of an ice cream farm! The struggle with wanting to be thin vs wanting to eat all the ice cream is real! But I’m pretty sure this was the start of my weekly ice cream stops! For me, summer is all about making memories with friends and loved ones and me flapping my ice cream covered hand at Aimee in a bid for her to sort it for me is definitely a memory I am sure she won’t forget in a hurry!
One day I hope to find someone who looks at me the way I look at ice cream!
Can we just take a minute or five to appreciate the beauty of Snugburys latest creation, Snugcloud! This has just up the ice cream game forever! In case you were wondering my go to ice cream is always the tripe and goes in this order, clotted cream, strawberry and raspberry pavlova. Bloody heaven on a waffle cone!
Every year Snugburys adds a hay sculpture to one of its fields, it has been Peter Rabbit for a couple of years now because the local towns love him so much! I mean really he must be easily 30 foot high and cute as a button! Over the years I can remember them doing a Darrick, a meerkat, big ben and a bear. Certainly, one way to draw the crowds, although their ice cream is amazingly amazing and probably the best ice cream I have ever eaten, and I have tried a lot of different ones!
Day 5:
I am a terrible person when it comes to visiting my family so when my brother said he was free I jumped at the chance for an afternoon date with him. The challenge is already forcing me to look at the relationships I have with everyone in my life and definitely forcing me to look at my work/life balance. We started our little date day off with a lazy Sunday Lazy, if there is one thing me and my brother do well together then it is eating. My brother although younger then me is my rock and the kindest man I have ever met, he really is my world and I feel incredibly guilty I don’t spend enough time with him. After a long catch up, we headed to the cinema, after eating we are both big film geeks!
We watched Jurissca World, drunk Tango Blasts and ate far too much pick n mix! Can I just say how amazing Jurissca World is, In fact, I would go as far as to say it was the best Jurissca Park film I have ever seen, and I have seen them all! Yep, I went there and I stand by it!!
I am already loving this challenge so much! I have high hopes for the most incredible summer EVER!
