“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
—F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
If you have no idea what 80 days of summer is all about, then where have you been!? Don’t worry you can catch up here. But basically for 80 days, I am going to make sure I do something every single day that makes the most of summer, some things will be new some won’t. This challenge is to show that life is really made for living, no excuses, no wasting days! Just happiness every single day!
So for day 2, I had meetings booked in with work in Leeds so what better way to enjoy 80 days of summer then to explore a new city! I must have passed through Leeds dozens of times over the last few years but never stopped for a visit. So when my meetings finished at 5pm there was no way I was going to try and fight my way through traffic back home, the m62 is bad enough in the middle of the night let alone rush hour. So I headed into the city in search of what Leeds is all about!
And Leeds you little beauty, you didn’t half surprise me! The city is a lot smaller than I imagined it to be with a stunning mix of architecture.
What the internet has to say about Leeds…………
“Leeds is a city in the northern English county of Yorkshire. On the south bank of the River Aire, the Royal Armouries houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. Leeds Kirkgate Market features hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls.”
I most definitely didn’t have a plan for Leeds, I just walked and walked, I really had no idea how beautiful the city was. I drunk coffee next to the river and just watched the world go by, I spend most of my day having to talk so I actually really enjoy being silent in the evening, like totally silent. I am freakin loving the British weather at the moment and have everything crossed that it will continue all the way till September. Could you imagine a whole summer of actual summer!
Still not ready to leave I headed over to Roundhay park to watch the sunset over the lake. I love beautiful parks in and around cities, they are such wonderful places to visit after a day of work, somewhere to unwind and forget about how busy your day has been.
Beautiful Leeds sunset! There is something magical about every season. Spring has the promise of new life, Autumn has the beautiful colours of leaves and Winter becomes a snowy wonderland. But boy does Summer have beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
Because I have a selfie problem!
Day two was the perfect second-day to my 80 days of summer challenge, I have such an amazing feeling about the next 78 days and I can only imagine how many wonderful incredible memories I will have by the end of it!
