“Love is like a tree: it shoots of itself; it strikes it’s roots deeply into our whole being, and frequently continues to put forth green leaves over a heart in ruins. And there is this unaccountable circumstance attending it, that the blinder the passion the more tenacious it is. Never is it stronger than when it is most unreasonable.”
― Victor Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre Dame
I have absolutely no idea what Alex said to me just before I took this selfie but turns out it must have been very funny! Ok I promise last sickly picture of us in this post, well nearly the last picture. After several hours roaming through Paris and with the slight aid of google maps we eventually made it to Notre Dame.
I apologise now, this post is super picture heavy, Notre Dame is so glorious that I just couldn’t edit the images down any further than I have done and I am OK with that! If you have never visited then I insist you put it on your bucket list at once. I don’t have a religious bone in my body but thanks to a religious up bringing I am filled with catholic guilt, thank you parents! I certainly appreciate the beauty of churches and the faith others have in God, I totally understand the reasons behind religion its just for me.
Notre Dame is a beautiful piece of architecture and certainly shows how deeply peoples faith runs through them, to create something so beautiful as a way to worship nothing more than a belief. It absolutely blows my mind how much love and detail goes into creating a place of worship. I am pretty sure we picked the best week to visit Paris, there was so few tourist that we were able to see everything we wanted without hours and hours of queuing, always a bonus.
After oohing and aahing our way around the beautiful interior we decided to admire Paris from the roof top. Not going to lie the climb up to the top left us a little breathless, we really spend far too long sat behind our laptops, New Years Resolution to actually move a little more. Despite the need to curl up and die it was certainly worth the climb, the views were totally worth it. Beautiful architecture always amazes me in a world where we want everything now there was a time when it took as long as it took. In fact it took almost 200 years to finish and boy was it worth the wait! And a testament to its self, it has stood proudly for almost a 1000 years in all its glory.
Only two sickly happy pictures of us in the whole post, I told you I would be good! (possibly the worst picture of me ever! Fucks knows why I have shared this one with you! ffs!)
Paris is like a beautiful woman, stunning from every angle. Despite the grey skies, Paris still looked bright and vibrant. I have been so lucky in my life to have been able to travel as much as I have and although there is still hundreds of places I still want to visit I know that Paris is going to be one of those places I will return to regularly, I have definitely left a piece of my heart in the city.
Again I am really sorry about the huge number of pictures in this post but I just really loved them all and couldn’t edit any further. Not going to lie tomorrows post is just as bad, but I promise tomorrows pictures will take you breath away and i’m super excited to share them with you. Kind of hoping you enjoyed todays views across Paris tho!!
